Educating Our Children
The question of how to educate our children is one of the most critical questions facing us today. If our children are to face the future with hope, inspiration, and insight, it is crucial that education address the needs of body, soul and spirit, as well as intellect.
Whatever an education is, it should make you a unique individual, not a conformist; it should furnish your with an original spirit with which to tackle the big challenges; it should allow you to find values which will be your road map through life. It should make you spiritually rich, a person who loves whatever you are doing, wherever you are, whomever you are with; it should teach you what is important, how to live... and to die. —John Taylor Gatto
Wherever your children "school," join with them in keeping heart and mind open--to laughter, to wonder, to revelation, to life. Relax, love, and enjoy them; allow yourself to learn from them. Support them in expressing their unique gifts, discovering and creating their own truths, and their own visions of greatness. By being with your child in ways such as these, you will do more to further their growing into the fullness of their being than you will with anything you set to "teach them."
